FFXIV Evercold: Release, Preorder and Early Access Dates

The FFXIV Evercold release date is announced as 23 February 2027, with preorders opening on 4 November 2026. Square Enix has also identified a scheduled early-access start ahead of launch. For returning and new players, the most useful preparation is checking the exact product, account and platform requirements before purchasing an expansion.
The official dates
The Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone announcement gives 23 February 2027 as the release date. Preorders begin on 4 November 2026, while early access is scheduled to begin on 19 February 2027 at 1 a.m. PST.
That early-access timing is a published schedule, not a guarantee against operational changes. Check the current official notice again closer to the event, particularly if you are planning time off or coordinating with friends in another country.
This guide does not invent additional story details, system requirements or edition bonuses. Those should be read from the exact product page and updated official notices.
Expansion, account and platform checks
Before ordering, identify the account you actually use to play. An expansion purchase should match the platform and account arrangement specified by the publisher, rather than whichever retailer listing appears first in a search.
If you previously played on a different device, check how your current access is registered. Similar branding does not mean that every storefront entitlement is interchangeable.
New players should read the complete product requirements, including the relationship between the expansion, the base game and any subscription needed for their account. Do not assume a preorder automatically creates a complete, permanently free game package.
How to approach early access
Early access is useful if you understand what it includes and what conditions apply. It should not become the only reason to purchase before you have decided whether you want the expansion itself.
When the preorder page becomes available, read how early-access eligibility is granted and whether any registration step is required. Keep the confirmation and use the publisher’s account pages rather than links from unsolicited messages.
If a retailer uses the word code, check what the code is for and when it must be registered. A preorder benefit and a full product entitlement can be different items, so follow the official instructions rather than guessing from an email subject line.
Returning after a long break
Start by confirming that you can sign in and recover the account you intend to use. Resolving access problems well before launch is easier than doing it when you are trying to join friends at a specific time.
Review your current character progress and the official prerequisites for upcoming content when those are published. There is no need to rush through a story based on a fan checklist that may assume knowledge you do not have.
Set a realistic pace. An expansion announcement can create pressure to complete everything immediately, but your enjoyment of the game is not measured by how quickly you reach a launch-day objective.
Keep a reliable launch checklist
Record the product edition, platform, purchase account and the official dates in one place. Closer to launch, add any announced maintenance information and the access instructions that apply to your region.
Plan downloads and free storage using the current publisher guidance, not an old expansion’s size. Avoid relying on a speculative preload date or a predicted server-opening time.
FFXIV Evercold currently has a clear announced release date and a separate preorder date, with early access scheduled ahead of launch. Readers following shorter-term PC releases can also see our Football Manager 27 preview and launch guide, where separating preview access from the full release is equally important.
When coordinating across time zones, keep the publisher’s stated zone beside the time. A calendar conversion is useful, but verify the date as well as the hour so an overnight change does not create a missed session.
