UGC NET December 2026 Correction Window: Dates and Rules

The UGC NET December 2026 correction window runs from 2 to 4 November 2026, closing at 11:50 p.m. NTA’s new notice makes the review urgent for registered candidates, but it also limits what can be changed. This is a correction facility, not a reopening of registration or permission to edit every field.
The one-time submission rule
The 2 November NTA correction notice says candidates may submit corrections only once. After submission, the application is frozen and further changes are not permitted through this facility.
Additional fees may apply where a correction increases the applicable amount. Such changes take effect only after successful payment. Previously paid fees are not refunded under the stated correction rules.
The practical implication is to review all required changes together before submitting. Do not use the first submission as a trial and expect to return later for another edit.
Which fields are restricted?
Annexure I says mobile number, email address, permanent and present addresses, uploaded photograph and uploaded signature cannot be changed.
Candidates may change any one of the candidate’s name, father’s name or mother’s name. The annexure also permits changes to date of birth, gender, category, subject and the specified sub-category or PwBD field where the stated verification condition applies.
Examination city preferences may be changed based on permanent and present addresses, but NTA is not bound to allot the preferred city. Read the annexure itself before acting, particularly where a condition affects your case.
Review the current application first
Open the application through the official UGC NET portal and compare the recorded details with the documents relevant to your application.
Make a short list of discrepancies before editing. Separate a genuine error from a preference you have changed since applying. That helps you identify whether the requested change is both necessary and permitted.
Do not rely on another candidate’s screenshot to decide what your account will allow. Their circumstances and verification status may differ from yours.
Plan the permitted changes together
Read each proposed correction against Annexure I. If you need changes in more than one of the three restricted name-related options, do not assume the portal will permit all of them.
Check subject and category selections carefully rather than choosing an option because it appears first in a menu. Use the examination’s official eligibility and subject guidance where needed.
If a permitted correction creates an additional fee, leave time to complete and verify the payment. The closing time applies to the official process, not to a message sent to a social-media help group.
Check the final result
Before submitting, review every edited field and any related information shown in the preview. Once submitted, retain the corrected record or acknowledgement available through the portal.
After payment where applicable, check that the portal reflects the completed change. Keep the confirmation with the rest of your examination documents so you can refer to the version that was actually submitted.
If a field is locked or a technical problem prevents completion, use the official helpdesk route stated in the notice. Avoid paying an unknown person who claims to unlock fields outside the published rules.
Keep examination notices separate
UGC NET correction permissions should not be copied from JEE, CSIR NET or an earlier examination cycle. Similar-looking portals can operate under different notices.
This guide reports the current 2–4 November facility and its published restrictions; it does not guarantee a further extension. Candidates should act within the announced window and watch the official site for any later notice.
For a separate application update, our JEE Main 2027 registration guide explains NTA’s fresh-form clarification. That clarification belongs to JEE and does not override the UGC NET one-time correction rule.
