CBSE Class 10 Marks Bifurcation 2027: Theory, Internal Assessment and Skill Subjects

CBSE Class 10 marks bifurcation 2027 is available in the board’s subject-wise assessment table for the 2026–27 examination. The useful starting point is your subject code: many familiar subjects carry 80 theory marks and 20 internal-assessment marks, while Computer Applications and several skill subjects use a different split.
CBSE lists the circular on its official examination circulars page under 6 November 2026. Students should use the Class X section of the official marks-bifurcation PDF rather than a cropped table that may omit the subject name or assessment column.
The main Class 10 subject patterns
| Subject and code | Theory | Other assessment | Theory duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics Standard 041 / Basic 241 | 80 | 20 IA | 3 hours |
| Science 086 / Social Science 087 | 80 | 20 IA | 3 hours |
| English Communicative 101 / Language and Literature 184 | 80 | 20 IA | 3 hours |
| Hindi A 002 / Hindi B 085 | 80 | 20 IA | 3 hours |
| Computer Applications 165 | 50 | 50 practical | 2 hours |
| Information Technology 402 / Artificial Intelligence 417 | 50 | 50 practical | 2 hours |
| Home Science 064 | 70 | 30 practical | 3 hours |
IA means internal assessment. Practical and project marks have separate columns in the official document. A dash in one column should not be read as a missing mark allocation: look across the whole row to see where the remaining marks sit.
Why subject codes matter
Mathematics Basic and Standard share the 80+20 allocation in this table. That does not make their papers interchangeable. Likewise, English Communicative and English Language and Literature are separately identified courses. Copy the exact name and code from your school records before building your revision sheet.
Computer Applications is another easy place to make a mistake. Its code is 165, whereas Information Technology is 402 and Artificial Intelligence is 417. Although the listed examples share a 50+50 split, they remain different subjects. Use your own course’s syllabus and instructions when preparing work for assessment.
Turn the table into a preparation checklist
Make a small record for every subject you actually study. Include the code, theory maximum, practical or project component, internal-assessment component and the teacher responsible for confirming outstanding work. This keeps a general board notice connected to your own registration and avoids spending time on a subject you have not taken.
For an 80-mark theory paper, practise answering a complete paper within the listed three-hour duration. Keep a separate list of internal work that your teacher says needs attention. The marks table tells you the component maximum; it does not tell you that a particular notebook, activity or test has already been assessed.
For a 50+50 course, give practical preparation its own place in the week. Ask your subject teacher which tasks you must demonstrate and which records must be ready. Treat this as an organisational step, not a promise that completing a file automatically earns the maximum practical marks.
What this circular does and does not answer
The table includes theory duration, maximum marks and administrative details such as external-examiner arrangements and answer-book type. Its purpose is broader than a student revision chart. You do not need to convert the answer-book page count into a target number of pages to fill; answer the questions asked and follow the examination instructions.
Marks bifurcation also serves a different purpose from an examination timetable. Use the board’s date sheet for subject dates and your school’s communication for assessment appointments. A marks row should not be used to infer when your practical or internal assessment will take place.
Before you share a screenshot
Keep the document heading, academic session and full subject row visible. A screenshot showing only “80” and “20” can be mistaken for a rule covering every subject. If a school message seems inconsistent with your row, send the relevant code and page to the teacher and ask which instruction applies.
Save the official PDF with your examination documents and check the circulars page for subsequent notices. Your immediate task is straightforward: match each registered subject to its row, separate written-paper practice from other assessment work, and resolve missing school instructions while there is time to act.
